PORT 32 Fort Lauderdale Set to Open Yacht Service Facility
Press Release | October 26, 2018
The property formerly known as Fort Lauderdale Boatyard & Marina and Jackson Marine is currently under construction and will open as PORT 32 Fort Lauderdale later this year. This new marine facility is located just west of I-95 on the north side of the New River across from Lauderdale Marine Center and Marina Mile Yachting Center.
PORT 32 Fort Lauderdale will open as a service destination with in-water service slips for yachts up to 150’ and a self-service boatyard with a new state-of-the-art 150-ton travel lift. Additionally, the property will have the only fuel dock on the New River within the vicinity of Marina Mile.
As a multi-phase development project, PORT 32 Fort Lauderdale will add commercial spaces available for lease for on-site marine service contractors and vendors as well as retail/office space for yacht and center console sales and other marine related uses. Multi-purpose storage units will also be available to lease. PORT 32 Fort Lauderdale has plans to become the largest drystack in Broward County with slips from 25’ to 55’. Featured amenities will include concierge services and a captain/crew lounge with TV, Wi-Fi, laundry, shower facilities, and grilling area.
PORT 32 Managing Principal Joe Miller, commented, “Fort Lauderdale is obviously the boating capital of the U.S. We see acquisition and redevelopment of this large and strategically located site as a means to serve both the yacht market from a service viewpoint, and the expanding center console market from both a storage and service perspective.”
Miller continued, “We are seeing rapid growth in the average size of center consoles and our goal is to build a large drystack which will accommodate today and tomorrow’s boats. We plan for our customers to have access to a ‘marine village’ of commercial vendors and trades who can satisfy every boating-related need on-site. Our project is inland and thus protected, and our I-95 location makes it easy to access our facility for everyone in Broward County and beyond. We look forward to delivering the yacht service facility by the end of this year and the upland boatyard and drystack in late 2019.”
PORT 32 is based out of Charleston, South Carolina. PORT 32 Fort Lauderdale joins a collection of marinas within the PORT 32 brand. The company also owns PORT 32 Palm Beach Gardens, PORT 32 Tierra Verde and PORT 32 Tampa. Additionally, PORT 32 manages Charleston-based marinas Ripley Light Drystack, Shem Creek Marina, and Ashley Marina. Addressing the growth of its portfolio, PORT 32’s Miller further said, “After completion of our redevelopments in Palm Beach Gardens and Fort Lauderdale, we will be among the largest slip owners in the state of Florida at approximately 2,600 slips. We will continue to seek quality assets and grow in a disciplined fashion.”
